Operator Logo for S60 3rd ed
The Long-Awaited Solution Has Arrived

The long awaited solution for changing the Operator Logo on the S60 3rd edition phones has arrived. The method itself is a little bit complicated and supports only the B&W logos and therefore is far away from the functionality and elegance that we have had with full color logos on the 2nd edition phones.

I guess you all know what the OpLogo is but as a courtesy for those who are interested in learning, operator logo is the picture on right top part of your phone idle screen that appears instead of active network info in text format, in most cases it is a stylized name/logo of your operator.

Solution isn’t very flexible at the moment because software supports only few predefined networks but I hope I’ll find the best way to tweak settings and input the network code manually.

UPDATE:

Thanks to the NightShift79 we found solution for tweaking the oplogo to work with all the networks basically It indeed requires few steps more but it works just fine.

Actually all you have to is to open the opl file that is located at the following path:

"SD:\Private\Mail\1000484b\00001001_S\a\0010000a_F"

in the some hex editor like WinHex and and change the network value to one that correspond to your homenetwork.

The 2nd problem is the procedure that requires playing with mail folder and some system directories which can be tricky if you are using memory card as default storage memory.

BEFORE
AFTER

Before you try to change anything, it's a good idea, actually it is highly suggestible to make a backup of the memory card or at least folder that you are intend to change, especially if you have some sensitive that might be lost if this end with corrupted files or folders.

Anyway, I just hope I didn't scare you or anything and that you are ready to try it out and without unlimited help at our forum section I am pretty sure that we can handle it.

So, first of all you have to create the Oplogo or get some ready made logos from the net and convert it in necessary format and stretch it to fit the required dimensions.

The picture must be 128*32 bitmap, black & white only, you can create in some better raster graphic soft like Photo Shop but even poor windows paint is good enough to save your picture in black & white mode. Speaking of the logo all you have to know is that phone traits white color as the transparency channel and all white parts will be transparent actually. You can find few samples in the application archive.

Now we comes to the tricky part, once when you have the logo you’ll have to put memory card in the reader and run the NokiaLogo soft that has to create the mail folder with necessary folder structure, index file and oplogo message on the memory card as the author suggest.

Anyway, instead of that as precaution measure I suggest to choose your C: drive instead of the memory card and create the mentioned folders and logo somewhere on your PC hard drive and than later easy copy the entire “1000484b” folder with all subfolders and files to “private” folder on your memory card.

Sure, the easiest possible method it to connect phone in the mass storage mode and copy the created folders.

Caution for all those who use the card as default storage memory because this procedure will cause loosing of the all messages stored on the memory card and therefore it is necessary to create a back up as I have suggested already.

If you scare about or if I miss something, feel free to reach me at our forum section, dedicated OpLogo topic, you can count on unlimited, friendly and fast support.

If you have done all of above steps successfully you’ll have your logon on position in few minutes, basically all you have to do now is to go to the Messaging menu, choose, Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use and set memory card as default storage memory.

Than just go to inbox, find the dedicated OpLogo message, open it and save it.

The whole procedure is tested on my N95 and works just fine
