+ OP logo, all about...

13 March 2005

Part two

How to setup clear (Full transparent) logo

As you can see in the image on the left, I’ve found the solution to make a neutral "logo", which can fit to any theme and which allows a completely clear idle screen without any influence of network info.

Advantages of this kind of Op logo is obviously at first sight, essentially if you read carefully the previous part, you probably know that you need to create a separate logo for every single theme you want to use.It is not a problem for a designer like me who can work with Photoshop with my eyes closed, but for somebody who doesn’t have any experience with raster graphic editors, it can be a very difficult job.

So I’m looking for a solution which would allow easy creation of the “wow” effect idle screen with just basic symbian knowledge and of course, without the need to learn how to work with complex softwares such as Photoshop. Also, this part would be useful for users who are just too lazy to create and setup different logos for every single theme and change them as well. And of course for all users who just prefer a clear idle screen without any unwanted influence on it.

So if you recognize yourself in one of the mentioned categories, keep reading this part carefully, otherwise you can proceed to part three.

Lets do it...

Next you would need:

Guru tip No 1:

Don’t try to setup this type of logo automatically with other 3rd party application such as fexplorer or any other programs which has the ability to manipulate the operator logo.

Why!?

Because just one simple reason, AFAIK all currently available softwares always resize the pictures to default size (97x25) before setting them up as an OpLogo. In this case, it will result in a white rectangle instead a clear logo.

1.)

First step we need to take is finding out the country, network and subnet code. If you already know your operator codes you can proceed to step 5.

There are many ways to do it.I will describe one of the fastest methods.

All you need is Fexplorer application installed. Otherwise, you can probably find the code you need at [ this ] link.

2.)

So run Fexplorer
Choose:
Options/Phone/Network info

3.)

U should get something like on the image above. It means your logo must have the following name to work properly:
219_1_0.bmp

4.)

Upload (send) the suplied Logo (SF clear logo) to your phone.
Find and highlight it.Then choose: Options/edit/Copy or just press 1 as copy shortcut

5.)

Scroll to the following path:
C:\System\apps\Phone\OpLogo\
and choose:
Options/edit/Paste or just press 7 as paste shortcut

6.)

Now highlight the bmp file you've just pasted, and choose:
Options/File/Rename and input the name that was defined in step 4, as on the image above...

7.)

Now just choose:
Options/Phone/Restart or restart the phone manually...

8.)

That's it, you should see the clear idle screen as on the image above...
