Nokia N78 "over-the-air"
Change Log for firmware v12.046 is In Da House!

In case you hadn't noticed, two weeks ago Nokia has released the "over-the-air" firmware update for the Nokia N78 which is now also available regularly through the Nokia Software Updater application.

The new firmware version 12.046 fixes several issues and offers extensive improvements in the performance and optimizes the functionality of the phone across many applications.

Improvements including soft key selection, Bluetooth stability, video playback, email sending, alarm clock functions and security improvements so it's definitely worth upgrading.

This software release is available though either the Nokia Software Updater or directly through your Nokia N78. To get this software through your Nokia N78, click Menu > Tools > Utilities > Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Remember that you can also use Wi-Fi to download the update.

Process of downloading and updating firmware shouldn't take too long and cost you too much as it is smaller than 1 MB actually it is around 900 kb to be precise ;)

• Improved performance of key selection using left/right softkey and send/end keys
• Better handling of received video call during video recording

Connectivity

• Plantronics M1000 headset supported
• Correct audio routing and volume control when both Internet radio & FM transmitter/music player active
• BT stability improvements
• Media Servant can use WMA files
• Nokia Software Updater fixed

Photos Application

• Arabic language pack now correctly localises numeric name for new image and video files
• Improvements to video playback

Internet

• Streaming improvements.

Music

• Improved stability with Downloading Rights
• FM transmitter turns off correctly after period of no music playing even if music player is active
• FM transmitter cannot continue sending internet radio when music playing is stopped.

Other Changes

• FOTA can be restarted if cancelled during first download.
• Resolved issue with incorrect wrapping in -Help- text file
• Can now send mail via SSL/TLS SMTP server.
• Stopped continuous upload attempts to Share online if there is a network issue.
• Correct video icon now displayed for WMV file.
• Share online image thumbnails update correctly.
• Security improvements again XSIM.
• Localisation fixes
