According to official Nokia Conversations blog, the Nokia N8 family will soon get the Pink variant which is expected to be available in selected markets end of this quarter.

From the hardware point of view it is pretty much the same phone equipped 12-megapixel camera capable to process HD that we all love but with a shiny new outside and Symbian Anna inside.

Nokia's existing font family was dominating its visual identity with its strong personality. This made it a difficult typeface to work with in a wider brand perspective, even though its condensed character width allowed for a good character count, and its high contrast meant it was easy to convert to pixels on older devices. The Finnish Mobile Phone Giant Posts
Stronger Than Expected Quarterly Profits

As expected, The Finnish mobile phone giant has released its financial results, and announced that its first-quarter revenues rose by 9% compared to the previous year to EUR10.4 billion (US$15 billion), although it was boosted by currency changes.

Net profit was down slightly at EUR344 million (US$499 million), compared to EUR349 million a year earlier. The result substantially beat analysts' expectations for a net profit of EUR287 million.

Nokia's total mobile device volumes was up by 1% at 108.5 million units in Q1 2011. Average Selling Price of mobile devices was EUR 65 in Q1 2011, up from EUR 62 in Q1 2010 an.. .. .

Nokia Australia managing director Chris Carr said that company is committed to releasing Symbian-based phones in 2011 and 2012 and said that Nokia will support new Symbian phones on the market for two years after release.

Nokia today announced that its Ovi Store has grown by nearly eight times over the last year and now reaches up to 5 million downloads per day, propelled by the latest Symbian devices - the Nokia N8, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7 and Nokia E7 - which account for about 15 percent of the daily downloads.

Increased demand for apps from the approximate 200-million-strong Symbian consumer base has seen the Ovi Store catalogue grow to more than 40 000 apps, with about 1 000 added per week. Phone Than To Continue To Operate Symbian

In interviews with the Financial Times, Nokia's Chairman and former CEO of the Nokia Corporation (1992–2006) Jorma Ollila, Nokia Chief Executive Stephen Elop and the whole Nokia leadership team identified the transition from Symbian to Windows Phone as one of the most challenging parts of the new strategy.

Jo Harlow, Nokia's Senior Vice President who runs Nokia’s smart devices division, told the FT: "The easier task is to start Windows Phone from a fresh perspective, but the more difficult task is to continue to operate Symbian."

Digia Plc. has signed an agreement with Nokia to acquire the Qt commercial licensing and services business.

The second annual survey conducted by YouGov measured the attitudes, preferences and behaviors of adult consumers in the United States and United Kingdom.

I just want to give everyone a quick heads up that Nokia has rolled over the air updated to its Quick Search Application for Symbian^3 powered Smartphones including Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7).

There is no detailed change log but according to Nokia, this new update brings several additions to your Search widget such as search history suggestions and faster access to your favourite search engines.

WinRumors has obtained draft copies of the commercials in which Microsoft shows off its Windows Phone devices in a number of different scenarios including checking Xbox achievements, getting directions home and telling colleagues you're late.

Security researchers over at F-Secure are warning S60 Smartphone users of a newly discovered mobile malware identified as 'Merogo SMS' aimed at Symbian based devices powered with the S60 Third Edition platform. From the details that gathered so far, this appears to be the same type of ZeuS Man-in-the-mobile attack that took place in Spain last year. Spanish security company, S21sec first reported on ZeuS Mitmo.

The latest version of Symbian's Last.fm client, that brought support for Symbian^3 devices has been available in public beta for awhile now so it is no surprise that it is finally ready for prime time.

Michael Coffey, creator and project lead of Mobbler, confirmed today through his Twitter account that his Last.fm client for Symbian' devices is being promoted out of beta to our stable release and is available for free from Nokia’s Ovi store.

Shares And Bought 150,000 Shares In Nokia

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, the first non-Finn to head the firm, said in a meeting with Finnish business journalists that he has sold all his remaining Microsoft shares on February 17 and has bought 150,000 shares of Nokia, according to Reuters. The sale has not been recorded with the SEC yet.

Elop joined Nokia from Microsoft in October, and according to Daily Finance, he had more than 130,000 shares worth more than $3 million. His holdings caused some speculation that he was actually a "Trojan horse" planted by Microsoft to secure the world's largest phone maker as a partner for Microsoft's Windows Phone.

Study Shows Android Users Are The Most 'Web Intensive', Symbian Users Like Facebook More Than Google, Windows Phone OS Is Not Even Mentioned

The GfK Network Intelligence Solution (GfK NIS) service has highlighted the significant variations in between different operating systems in terms of mobile web activity. The pioneering research method analyses mobile behaviour via operators' IP traffic.

GfK NIS is already installed in several European markets and during the autumn of 2010, GfK measured more than 20 million website visits in four European countries to discover that the intensity of web usage differs significantly between operating systems.

Android users were the most 'web intensive' with an average of 9.1 daily site visits per user, compared to iphone (8.0), BlackBerry (5.7) and Symbian (5.2), the latter utilised more as a ‘feature’ phone as opposed to a ‘smart’ phone.  GfK NIS also unc... .. .

Symbian Is Dead, Long Live Windows Phone!?

The recent partnership of Nokia and Microsoft announces Nokia's adoption of Windows Phone (WP) as its primary smartphone strategy.

Symbian smartphones will still be shipped during its transition to WP7 over at least the next 6 to 8 quarters, and the long-awaited MeeGo device will eventually see the light, but there will be only one MeeGo device, according to a new research note from Stela Bokun, Senior Analyst at Pyramid Research.

World leading mobile phone maker Nokia's new partnership with Microsoft could entail up to 6,000 layoffs in Finland, the head of a large Finnish union said Monday.

"In the worst case scenario, it could be up to around 6,000 (job cuts)," said Antti Rinne, the head of Finland's Union of Salaried Employees (TU), which counts some 130,000 members.

He told AFP however that "I think the realistic figure is between 3,000 or 4,000." Nokia, which has seen its global market share shrink from around 40 percent to 32 percent in just over two years, currently employs some 20,000 people in Finla... .. .

Elop of course denied that he was a plant. "I'll take that question. The obvious answer is no. We made sure that the entire management team was involved in the process, and of course the board of directors of Nokia are the only ones that can make this significant of a decision about Nokia. They made that final decision on Thursday night."

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped a total of 100.9 million smartphones during the fourth quarter of 2010 (4Q10), up 87.2% from the 53.9 million smartphones shipped during 4Q09. For the full year, vendors shipped a total of 302.6 million smartphones worldwide, up 74.4% from the 173.5 million smartphones shipped in 2009.

According to good folks over at DialToSave, Three won’t be the only UK network to stock the Nokia E7, as Vodafone has also revealed its plans to offer  the Nokia's business-centric flagship smartphone. Users can register to receive updates on its availability and pricing on Vodafone now.

The handset cropped up on the network’s 'Coming Soon' page, but unfotunately without any  details regarding the handset’s pricing, although it’s likely to fetch around £30.00/month on a 2 year contract – the same as its Nokia N8 sibling.

The Nokia E7′s release date still remains a mystery but latest info from an online retailer switches on to a more positive terrain saying that a date of launch is round the be... .. .

Nokia Has Rolled Out First
Firmware Update For Nokia C7?!?

I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that Nokia has rolled out the first firmware update for Nokia C7, while the other two Symbian^3 powered smartphones (Nokia N8 and Nokia C6-01) are expected to get pretty much the same update shortly.

Firmware version 13.0.16, (also known as PR 1.1) is now regularly available for most of the generic Euro codes as 'Over The Air' update and as usually, it should be progressively available at the Nokia service points and available through the NSU as well.

There is no detailed change log but it is anyway highly suggestible to get it as it usually brings dozens of minor bug fixes and improves reliability of your phone and offers ext... .. .
