Bitstream Releases ThunderHawk
Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition

ThunderHawk Symbian Series60
(S60) Edition on the Nokia 6600

Bitstream Inc. announced today the release of ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition. The new version gives users of select Symbian platform devices access to award-winning ThunderHawk technology, including the browser's unique split screen view for effortless navigation on small screen phones.

All new and current ThunderHawk users are able to test the software by downloading the 30-day free trial.

ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition complies with Symbian interface guidelines while offering the same features and functionality users have come to expect from ThunderHawk. It is similar to browsing on the desktop because ThunderHawk includes functionality that enhances the user experience in ways that other browsers do not, including:
  • Multiple viewing options. ThunderHawk is the only browser that enables users to move between "full screen" and "split screen" viewing modes, making information easy to find and easy to read on Symbian devices.
  • Effortless scrolling. Fast, fluid Web page navigation.
  • Increased speed. Due to client/server technology, ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition provides the fastest mobile Web page speeds available.
  • The ability to read information on-the-fly. Compact transport format and progressive rendering creates a fast, positive user experience.
  • Seamless connectivity. With ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition, a dropped connection is re-established immediately, along with any data you previously entered.

In addition, ThunderHawk Enterprise Edition enables organizations with high security standards to host ThunderHawk in-house by purchasing a fully configured ThunderHawk server, as well as ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) user licenses as needed. The advantage of this turnkey appliance is that the server comes preconfigured so there is less of a burden on the enterprise IT department during the installation process.

Along with public website access, ThunderHawk Enterprise Edition enables organizations and employees using Symbian Series60 devices to view applications behind the corporate firewall, including intranet and database information. All upstream data is always 128 bit encrypted, and all downstream data is 128 bit encrypted on all secure pages.

"ThunderHawk continues to provide a browsing experience that is closest to what users see on their desktop," said Anna Chagnon, President and CEO of Bitstream Inc. "Now many Symbian users will be able to take full advantage of the mobile Web with ThunderHawk's unique viewing options, while still utilizing the Symbian platform interface. The result is that ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 users can find the information they need quickly, easily, and productively."

Immediate Benefits

Intuitive Browsing
ThunderHawk provides a superior browsing experience on small screen devices. A consistent, familiar interface enables you to view your favorite Web sites on your Symbian Series60 phone, just as the sites would appear on your desktop!

Effortless Browsing
By displaying the entire Web page and offering different viewing options, including a unique "full screen" and "split screen" view, ThunderHawk makes it easier to find information without excessive scrolling. Features such as favorites and history lists make mobile browsing effortless and enjoyable.

ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition allows you to browse in
"full screen" mode (left), making it easy to find information, and in a
unique "split screen" mode (right), making it easy to read information.

Fast Browsing
ThunderHawk enables quick delivery of Web sites over a wireless connection because content is transmitted in a more compact format. Try a side-by-side comparison between ThunderHawk Symbian Series60 (S60) Edition and another mobile browser and you'll see the difference every time.

Flexible Browsing
ThunderHawk offers seamless connectivity, so a dropped or interrupted connection is re-established immediately, along with any other data you previously entered.

Secure Browsing
ThunderHawk provides 128-bit encryption both ways, for secure data transmission. Send personal e-mails, go shopping online or view corporate data at home, in the office or on the road.
