Nokia Is Still Determined
To Keep Improving Symbian OS!!
Even though the Nokia is switching to Microsoft's Windows Phone OS as its primary smartphone platform, Finnish company is still determined to keep improving its own Symbian operating system!!
Speaking at the launch of Nokia's E7 Symbian^3 device in Singapore, Vlasta Berka, general manager for Nokia Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei said that despite the recent direction change in terms of smartphone platform, Nokia will continue to support its Symbian operating system.
"We still have obligations to our users, developers, business partners and customers." said Berka and added that “Symbian is here to stay. Symbian will still be around, but it's just going to go somewhere around the corner,” .
Berka also tried to allay fears that Nokia will cease support for the Symbian platform and confirmed once again that recently rumoured improvements and modifications, from visual to performance enhancements, will be rolled out for the rest of this year, but didn’t disclose any further details regarding the update schedule.
The decision was made because Nokia feels they owe it to the over 200 million Symbian users around the world as well as their business partners and developers and plans to ship more than 150 million Symbian devices during this year, in addition to Windows Phone 7 smartphones and feature S40 phones.
