+ F-Secure introduces next-gen security service for Symbian

11 February 2011

F-Secure Introduces Next Generation Security Service For Android & Symbian Platforms At MWC

F-Secure Anti-Theft F-Secure’s next generation mobile security service for operators will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress on 14-17 February in Barcelona, Spain. The new version of F-Secure’s Protection Service for Mobile (PSM 7) enables operators to offer comprehensive protection and parental control for their customers’ mobile devices.

As more and more children, teenagers and adults are surfing the Internet with multiple devices, mobile security is today an issue for the whole family. PSM enables operators to offer an end user service that makes Internet browsing, social networking and mobile financial transactions safer than ever by automatically identifying harmful web sites, as well as keeping children safe from inappropriate and dangerous web content.

PSM also helps operators’ customers to lock, locate and erase missing devices and gives protection against harmful applications and viruses. PSM supports multiple mobile platforms, and includes several customizable alternatives for operators to offer mobile security as a service to their customers.

For the operators, PSM introduces a powerful one-to-one mobile messaging functionality from the operator directly to the customers. This new tool enables the operator to target customers with timely and relevant messages, providing a unique mobile up-selling and cross-selling tool in addition to increasing customer satisfaction through informative and useful messages.

Samu Konttinen, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing at F-Secure, says “F-Secure has responded to important developments in the market. For example, the increasingly popular Android tablet computers and smartphones often contain confidential information like photos and business documents which need to be protected from falling in the wrong hands.

At the same time there is a clear need for parental control on the many mobile devices now used by children, as one in ten web pages are not suitable for them. Thanks to the new generation of F-Secure’s mobile security solution, our operator partners’ customers can enjoy all their mobile devices to the full.”

F-Secure is a pioneer in mobile security and has already been protecting mobile devices for over ten years with operator partners. F-Secure’s Protection Services are available through more than 200 operators around the world and are trusted in millions of homes and businesses. F-Secure is known for its frequent automatic updates, immediate reaction times and fast cures during new and emerging threats – guaranteed by the F-Secure Labs, which operate 24 hours a day worldwide.
