+ HOT: Nokia N8 Gets Criticized Ahead Of Its Official Debut

26 April 2010

Next Nokia Flagship Smartphone
Gets Criticized Ahead Of Its Official Debut

Nokia N8As you may know already, Nokia is currently preparing a new flagship model which will be company’s first model based on the new version of the Symbian operating system (Symbian^3) and it is one of the main reasons why it generating quite a lot of buzz ahead of its official coming out party.

Nokia N8 shortly showed its face couple of weeks ago in a series of blurry photos and without precise specifications but now thanks to mighty Eldar Murtazin, Mobile Review's chief and founder we just get the very first preview of the latest and the hottest Nokia Smartphone at the moment.

It is not that easy to get these early proto devices on testing and I guess he must have some high-level KGB mole penetrated deeply into Nokia headquarter and/or some well-heeled backers, concealed as carefully as possible!?

Although it is based on the proto device, preview is pretty detailed and enriched with couple of live photos and it definitely worth going there even if you don't understand even a single Russian word. Of course you can always use some of the web translators, these sites aren’t prefect in translations but you’ll get a chance to read it before Eldar's slaves translate it to English.

Anyway, thanks to the Google translator and my very basic Russian knowledge it’s clear that Eldar is generally not very positive about device, it fails to impress him with any particular feature and the Symbian^3 is said to have "little change in functionality,". Eldar Murtazin is even brave enough to jokingly comment that Nokia employees are sabotaging the company's brand from the inside, else it might be "impossible to explain" why the N8 exists at all ;)

However it is not all that bad and Eldar says that the Build quality and dimension of the phone are quite good but unfortunately it suffers from the same problem as the Nokia X6 as it is possible for dust to enter under the phone screen which is quite annoying.

Phone is equipped with impressive 12 Megapixel Camera supported with a highly anticipated Xenon Flash and is capable to capture decent photos significantly better than Sony Ericsson's Satio. Phone is also capable to record 720p video but according to Eldar it is not any better than what other brands offer at the moment.

Nokia N8

What is a bit weird to me is that such high-quality camera phone optimized for photography lacks the camera cover which means the lens can be easily soiled, dirty or even in worst scenaraio you might end up having a scratched lens after a while.

What makes it stand out of the crowd is the HDMI port on the bottom of the device but strangely it is not a standard connector but some smaller variant that makes impossible to connect it through the classic HDMI cables.

Nokia N8

That’s it, usually we are not covering non-English stuff but Nokia N8 is the pretty hot subject lately and I thought I should share this with you anyway. So, if you one those who can’t deal with the Russian language and Cyrillic alphabet you can try Yahoo's Babel Fish or Google translator or wait few days until Eldarn moves it to English section of the site. As soon as he release translated version we will let you know of course ;)

Why don't you come out of your shell and try to be more social? Join some of the healthy Nokia N8-00 related discussions, speak your mind and share your thoughts with the rest of community! If nothing else, than take some time to poke around and see if you can learn something or share your knowledge with others!
