Nokia-Apple Patent Fight On Hold

According to an Associated Press report, a federal judge in Delaware has agreed to put on hold a patent dispute between Apple Inc. and Nokia pending resolution of their competing claims before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

A federal judge in Delaware has agreed to put a patent fight between Apple and Nokia on hold pending resolution of their competing claims before the International Trade Commission.

The judge signed an order Wednesday staying litigation in a lawsuit in which Nokia claims that Apple is infringing on seven Nokia patents in products ranging from the iPhone to computers.

The order also covers counterclaims in which Apple alleges that Nokia has infringed on nine Apple patents that are the subject of an ITC complaint by Apple.

Couple of months ago, Nokia has filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that Apple infringes Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, and computers.

The seven Nokia patents in this complaint relate to Nokia's pioneering innovations that are now being used by Apple to create key features in its products in the area of user interface, as well as camera, antenna and power management technologies.

These patented technologies are important to Nokia's success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size and longer battery life for Nokia products.
