Final Version Of Nokia Ovi Suite Released
The deployment of Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.0.87 started yesterday as a web update for existing Nokia Ovi Suite users.
If you’ve downloaded Ovi Suite within the past week, you probably already have this version but if you get an update notification in Nokia Ovi Suite about this new release it is highly suggestible to go ahead and proceed to update into latest version, as it contains many improvements, new features and numerous different bug fixes in different parts of software including many crash bugs, which have been reported to the team during the 1st beta testing period.
With Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1 you can easily shuttle multiple content types between your device and computer; register for Ovi services and upload photos or download maps for free; and update your Nokia device with the latest software.
New features, for example:
- Ovi.com contacts sync -> keep your contacts synced and safe in Ovi.com
- Video transfer and playback -> Share and play your best video clips in Ovi.com
- Device application updates -> Get great new device applications like Maps
Designed using Nokia’s Qt cross-platform application and UI framework, Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1 brings together only the essential features from Nokia’s past and present desktop applications.
The result is a refreshingly elegant, slim and fast piece of software that is a pleasure to use.In due time, when Nokia Ovi Suite is ready to cater to the essential needs of all Nokia desktop software users, the application will replace the all popular Nokia PC Suite. Until then Nokia PC Suite continues to exist alongside its next-generation cousin.
I’m also happy that many users have noticed our support for Mozilla Thunderbird in contacts sync. We’ve put also effort into improving performance of the Nokia Ovi Suite, so you should see improvements in that area. Obviously, these improvements are something that we continue working on.
We’d like to thank everybody for participating into this round of Nokia Ovi Suite beta testing, your contributions are very important for us and we’re looking forward to your help in future Nokia Ovi Suite betas. Our teams are again in full speed for new development and there are many interesting things under way right now. For example, many of us are now working with their shiny new silver laptops :)
