Introducing Maemo-Freak.com
When the Nokia N900 was announced, I was immediately blown away. This is the first device I've seen as a suitable replacement for the venerable N95, in my opinion the undisputed greatest mobile device of the decade. Finally we'd be getting a smartphone with some teeth, a lot of extra horsepower, and a higher resolution A/V performance spec. I was instantly in love.
But I wasn't the only one. I'm still a Symbian OS Freak, and this community is still my home. I've built relationships and bonds here that run deep into my DNA, and seeing all of the interest in the N900 meant the possibility of watching part of the family move away. The winds of change were blowing, and Teo, our site Administrator and Chief Editor, and I were torn as to how to cover the N900 and Maemo in general when Symbian Freak has always only been about Symbian.
We've come up with a solution we think will be pleasing to everyone. We've managed to keep Symbian Freak as is (as if it was ever going anywhere) while providing a totally new venue for our Maemo fiending brethren, and its right next door! Ladies, gentlemen, geeks, and alien life forms, it makes me proud to announce the unveiling of the new home for all your Maemo news and information:
MAEMO-FREAK.COM IS ALIVE!!!
You read it right. The new home for your Nokia 770, N800, N810, and soon to be released N900 is at http://www.Maemo-Freak.com. Expect the same level of news, reviews, and related information you've come to love here on Symbian-Freak.com, with a Maemo flavored twist all Freaks will enjoy.
In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing the hottest desktop utilities, device applications, modifications, information, forum discussions, and news for all the N900 stalkers to give us something to chew on until we can wrap our fingers around a real device. We'll also weed through all of the "geek speak" at "the .org", as I like to call them, our big brothers at Maemo.org, keeping you up to date on upcoming applications and developments straight from the developers and super hackers themselves.
Since Qt will be a big part of the Maemo and Symbian strategy going forward, expect to continue to see the same faces in both camps. We've even kept the forums for both sites connected for the time being as part of the Mobility Freak family of forums, so if you're already a Symbian Freak forum member, your login should work for the Maemo Freak forums as well. Just go to www.Maemo-Freak.com and join us in discussion on the Maemo Freak forums. If you haven't already, REGISTER TODAY!! Its absolutely free, so make yourself at home. I'll see you there.
