Nokia 5800 Firmware v21.2.025
Finally Released In North America

Nokia 5800Nokia made some people quite angry some while ago when they released the first Major update for the Nokia 5800 and decide to make it only available to EMEA and APAC consumers while the North American users were left in the dark with no support at all.

The notoriously buggy NAM version of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has been waiting for the first proper update for months and those who own this phone should be pleased knowing that after quite a long time, Finnish company has finally made available the latest firmware update (v21.2.025) to US customers.

The long-awaited software upgrade for the Nokia 5800 NAM is now available through the Nokia Software Updater for most of the generic NAM product codes and will be progressively available at official Nokia service points.

Unfortunately, new software isn't available as FOTA update which is by the way the best possible way of delivering new firmwares and it is kind strange why Nokia is not offering tFOTA updates in North America.

Unfortunately there is no change log for now but firmware update is always recommended because it usually improves the performance and reliability and the only question that I worry about is if new software is hackable or not?

It’s also highly likely that platform hack will not work in this new firmware update and this is one of the reasons to be cautious not to install this update. Our hopes is that hack still works, but either we’ll wait for posts elsewhere confirming or denying the hack and react to that or some of our forum mebers will risk a little bit and do the upgrade.

Oh yes, one more thing, Nokia 5800 has the UDP but it is anyway highly suggestible to back up your phone memory before performing a firmware update as precaution measure in case something goes wrong.
