'Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2009'
Although it is still not available in the market, Nokia N86 8MP has managed to scoop the 'Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2009' by TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) - Europe's largest photo and imaging press association.
The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) announces the winners of the XIX round of the TIPA Awards. The best imaging products of 2009 were voted on at the association's General Assembly on 2 April 2009 in Budapest.
The editors of the 25 member photo magazines from 11 European countries met to discuss the association's projects and vote for the best imaging products launched by the industry during the last 12 months.
Taking into account innovation, ergonomics, design, ease of use, efficiency, price / performance ratio, as well as other guidelines, TIPA editors have been bestowing the TIPA Awards to imaging products in various categories since 1991 in order to help photo enthusiasts and professionals make the best purchasing choices.
Since technology is constantly changing, the TIPA Awards categories consequently also change. The present categories vary from D-SLR to compact cameras, from printers to software, and from scanners and photo kiosks to professional lighting systems.
The new Nokia N86 8MP, with an f/2.8 Zeiss wide-angle zoom lens and an 8MP sensor, represents a new step forward in that specific segment.
The device sports centre weighted exposure, 1/1000 sec. shutter speed, multimode flash and several scene modes with macro down to 10cm, not to mention advanced communication and location technologies.
Thanks to the ongoing collaboration between Nokia, the global leader in mobility, and Carl Zeiss, a world leader in optics, you can take advantage of the same high-quality optical lenses used by the NASA to discover and capture the moon landscapes and for the filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Many of the Nokia Nseries devices, as well as the Nokia N86c, are equipped with a special lens which corresponds to the classic Carl Zeiss four-element Tessar. The special features of this lens include its high definition, low chromatic aberration and high speed of f/2.9 – despite its small size.
Mobile photographers can expect sharper image contrast, truer color saturation and professional-quality images every time. The lens’ focal length of 5.5 mm offers a very universal moderate wide angle perspective, comparable to a 35 mm lens for SLR cameras. The optical system reproduces the captured scene with maximum precision on a 2952 x 1994 pixel micro sensor.
The two companies have collaborated since 2005 and have brought the design expertise and stringent quality requirements of Carl Zeiss to Nokia’s product creation process for high-end camera devices.
As a result of the collaboration, consumers are able to capture, share, store and print better quality images with Nokia’s flagship imaging devices. The outstanding scientific expertise from Carl Zeiss in camera optics and the industry-leading position of Nokia in the mobile phone market offer a solid foundation for the cooperation.
Using the camera on your Nokia handset brings you closer to perfect images with Carl Zeiss quality optical technology. Images you can share with the world
