Hands-On Video Reveals Omnia HD Pricing!

Those lucky, lucky folks over at CellulareMagazine.it blog have managed to get their hands on the first Samsung’s device based on the 5th edition of the S60 platform and to produce 10 minute long, in-depth walkthrough video.

Most things about spec-tastic Omnia HD are already very well known and video doesn’t reveals anything radically new at all but it's good to see again surprisingly fast UI and how responsive is world's largest AMOLED screen on mobile devices that runs at nHD (640 x 360) resolution and is capable to playback and capture stunning HD (720p) video at 24fps.

Samsung’s Omnia HD is the first S60 touch device built on a TI's OMAP3 chipset which giving it at least 3 times better graphic performance over the conventional ARM11 processors. Great PowerVR SGX 2D/3D GPU from Imagination Technology incorporated into even greater Texas Instrument’s OMAP 3430 together with the fully programmable VGP vertex processor core, FPU and Superscalar 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 RISC core!

They also said that the expected price in Italy will be around 500€, which undercuts the price of the N97 by 50€! If you want a bundled 2-year-license of Route66, you’ll have to spend another 100€.

It seems Samsung wants to convince the undecided customers to buy the Omnia HD instead of the N97. The only downside with this pricecut is that they seem to finally use the cheap glossy plastic cover for the back of the device instead of the high quality metal cover.
