+ ProfiMail 3.10: More Finger-Friendly And Easier To Use

ProfiMail Gets An Update
More Finger-Friendly And Easier To Use

Need for Speed UndercoverProfiMail was always my favourite e-mail client on S60 devices and I have been a huge fan of great LCG’s applications since the very beginning and now with the latest release it becomes even more awesome and the most importantly ProfiMail is now finger friendly and fully compatible with 5th edition of S60 devices.

That’s actually what motivated me to write this and to let you know that ProfiMail has taken a major step forward in porting the best and the most popular S60 e-mail application to touch user interface and 5th edition devices.

For those who don’t know, ProfiMail is an excellent alternative for default e-mail application as it offers more advanced features, a more efficient interface with zero wasted space and speedier operation over all.

What fascinates me the most about ProfiMail and other Lonely Cat Games products is fact that their developers completely ignore the Nokia User Interface Guidelines and offers entirely new, redesigned and user-friendly interface far away form traditional series 60 UI. With the program's user interface, you can see a great part of the message on the screen at a time, and easily navigate during reading.

ProfiMail supports all the basics protocols including POP3 and IMAP and since version 3.0 it also support IMAP IDLE which enables a push-like email experience and allows users on providers like GMail that support IDLE connections to receive immediately any mailbox changes without having to undertake any action such as clicking on a refresh button.

In addition the app includes support for HTML email, rules and filters, integrated attachment viewing including support for zip archive files. Furthermore there is a build-in image viewer for JPG, PNG and other popular formats, text viewer for standard text, HTML and Word documents, built in file browser and a lot, lot more.

The just released update [3.10] brings significant improvements in user interface with a nice and finger friendly on screen commands, great idea and even greatest realization. A longer press on a certain element such as message header, contact, photo or account it will bring handy ‘pop-up circle’ with up to five finger friendly options, which is more than enough in most situations.

Next you’ll begin to notice is the ability to easily browse through inbox messages by sliding a finger to the left or right in both portrait and landscape mode. Digging in further you should notice that ProfiMail is now completely customizable, from the version 3.10 it is finally possible to use system font with a better font size management.

ProfiMail

What I also like about ProfiMail is that license is transferable to your new device during three years after the purchase, with a maximum of 20 transfers. Not to mention that it has export and import features for seamless transfer.

Although ProfiMail is the best available e-mail client for S60 devices in my personal opinion it is far away from perfect and there is a plenty of room for improvements to make it completely finger friendly UI, the full screen button in top right corner is a nice example, it is hardly accessible even with stylus.

In short, ProfiMail brings new entirely dimension in boring S60 applications world, nice and small anti-aliased fonts, pop-up windows, progress bars, animations and the finger friendly interface with the latest release, just wonderful.

Mobile client with a desktop like features and look, one of the best S60 applications ever, highly recommended by whole SF team, Teo and Michael especially, at least give it a try, it worth downloading.
