Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
Pumps Up The Volume TV Ad And Ringtone
Way back in January, George William Sampson (winner of UK’s Got Talent show) helped Nokia to promote its first mass-market device with a touch screen, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone, in London's Regent Street.
He handed over the first Nokia 5800 sold and performed a live dance routine to Pump up the Volume remixed by VV Brown which he choreographed to go with a touch-sensitive dance floor.
As the part of the UK launch and in cooperation with UK dancers with Keith, George and VV, Nokia has also created a ‘Nokia Tube Dance’ on a touch-activated light-up dance floor and the not-to-be-missed video.
But that’s not all, folks, I’ve just found the TV ad that is also based on the "Pump Up the Volume", the only single released by British recording act M|A|R|R|S. It was a number-one hit in the United Kingdom (1987) and is generally regarded as a significant milestone in the development of British house music and music sampling.

The Nokia 5800 ad highlight few lines from the lyrics flashing up on the screen whilst the tune played in the background. And that’s basically al about this 30 sec long TV ad. Oh yes, there is an also ringtone in MP3 format available for download from the below link.

The single was the product of an uneasy collaboration between Colourbox and A R Kane, two groups on the independent art-pop label 4AD. The link-up was suggested by label founder Ivo Watts-Russell after the two groups had independently sounded him out about the possibility of releasing a commercially oriented dance record, inspired by the American house music that was starting to make an impact on the British charts.
