How Big Is 300 Million?
Overly Ambitious Plans For OVI Service

OVI by NokiaIt seems that Nokia has very ambitious plans to beat the competition and expecting a large breakthrough to 300 million of unique users by 2012 for its internet service launched in the last week of August 2007.

Nokia’s main intention over the past two years or so has been the fundamental desire to reinvent itself and switch from being a handset vendor only to being an "Internet company" and with the introduction of Ovi, Nokia has finally expanded its focus on mobile devices to a wide range of Internet services under the Ovi brand.

Last year during Nokia's annual shareholder meeting Kallasvuo said that their goal is to act less like a traditional manufacturer, and more like an internet company. He also added "Companies such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft are not our traditional competitors, but they are major forces that must be reckoned with. Make no mistake: We are taking on these challenges seriously and aggressively."

Don’t you think that Nokia’s prediction to gain 300 million subscribers by 2012 is a bit overly ambitious and aggressive, or maybe I am wrong!? Is it possible? Is it feasible?

Overly ambitious plans are difficult to realize if you ask me but I would like to hear your opinion!? Has Nokia lost its way? Is OVI good enough to gain 300m unique users by 2012?

Anyway, you should read the quite an intrensting Renegade Fanboy's article which is this story based on.
