Nokia Warns Of Faulty Batteries!!!
Its BP-6M Could Potentially Balloons In Size
Nokia has identified that in rare cases hat BP-6M batteries used with the Nokia N73, Nokia N77 and Nokia N93 could potentially swollen up over time and in some cases it can ballooning to several times of their original size, and in some cases to such an extent that the phone case won't close.
Nokia’s BP-6M battery is used in lot of their products and if you owner of Nokia 3250 XpressMusic, Nokia 6151, Nokia 6233, Nokia 6234, Nokia 6280, Nokia 6288, Nokia 9300, Nokia 9300i, Nokia N73, Nokia N73 Music Edition or Nokia N77 and if your battery is growing better look for the nearest service center where you can get new one for FREE!
El Reg first heard about the problem from a reader just after Christmas, and Nokia has been investigating since. According to Nokia's knowledge this issue does not affect any other use of the mobile device and is nothing to be concerned about.
This is not the same problem as with Nokia BL-5C batteries in very rare cases could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to explode. Lithium-ion batteries often gently swell up after a few years, and even unused batteries tend to enlarge after around three years, so those unused handsets you stuck in a drawer could be popping open as you read this. Not that there's any risk from this - it just makes the batteries hard to fit into the charger, or mobile phone, and shouldn't happen for a few years at least.
Nokia isn't saying how common the problem is, only that it affects a "limited number of batteries" and that the swelling presents "no risk to health of safety" - assuming of course that your health and safely doesn't depend on having a working telephone before you have a chance to switch batteries.
