The Reset Generation
Wins 'Most Innovative Mobile Game' Award
The Reset Generation game was chosen as the winner from a list of thirty most innovative mobile games that were released in 2008 and was recognized as the "as truly innovative" according to Pocket Gamer's judges.
Spore Origins has come on the 2nd place on PocketsGamer list and considering it is supposed to be available for N-Gage soon, Nokia's mobile gaming platform is the clear winner across all mobile gaming platforms.
Another game that is also available for the N-Gage, the multi-platform title Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is positioned on the sixth place and I guess that nobody would deny that N-Gage and Nokia are the big winners but it is question if t is deserved or not?
"Reset Generation scored a perfect 10 when reviewed on Pocket Gamer - a score that's since provoked some debate among developers thanks to the game's hardcore nature. However, nobody would deny that the N-Gage game was truly innovative.
The spin-off Facebook version was one aspect, but it was the wider Web 2.0 aspects around that which truly impressed, with players able to embed their profile in blogs and social networking profiles, and view replays of any game played online via a widget.
Did it sell well? The jury's out - it quickly fell out of the Top 5 N-Gage chart. But as a signpost for how a mobile game can extend outside mobile, it was hugely significant."
Anyway, the Reset Generation game is the dream project of producer Scott Foe, who has been bandying the idea around since his teen years. Reset Generation is scheduled for release in Summer 2008 for the PC and N-Gage platform, had been known until now by the codename "Project White Rock."
Nokia, and Finnish developers RedLynx, have spent the last two and a half years on Reset Generation, and the result is a mash-up of puzzle gaming, turn-based strategy, and tongue-firmly-out-of-cheek fanservice. Reset Generation is an unfairly addictive action-puzzle title which is both cross-platform and multi-platform; furious online four-player action.
