+ Quick note: Nokia 5800 Gets The FCC's Green Light!

Nokia Gets FCC Approval
For the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic!

Nokia 5800 XpressMusicAccording to documents that just appeared on the US Federal Communications Commission's Web site, Nokia has received regulatory approval to start selling North American 3G friendly version of its first S60 touchscreen phone in the States!

Nokia 5800 NAM is the Quad-band phone compatible with 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 frequencies and US 3G compatibility, or to be precise with support for the AT&T’s WCDMA 850/1900 HSDPA network.

Phone is obviously optimized for US UMTS networks only and unfortunately it lacks support for the 2100 MHz as the NAM version of the Nokia N85 and if you take it with you abroad, you will be able to get faster 3G coverage!

Speaking about NAM version of the Nokia 5800 I need to say that several months ago I came in possession of some confidential Nokia documents (trusted source), which clearly show that NAM version of Nokia 5800 (RM-428) will be available in black colour only while the European’s RM-356 will be available in two inbox colours: red and blue?!

I just hope this is not true as most of my friends want to get 5800 dressed in decent black suite and most of them will be disappointed if black variant of the case will not be available in Europe.

Anyway, such approval is required before a wireless device can be sold to consumers in the United States and if nothing else FCC approval is always a good sign that phone is on the way and indicates that it will be released for US markets soon!!
