Samsung Unseated Motorola From Its Throne
As The Leading Vendor In The North America!!

Strategy AnalyticsAccording to data from Strategy Analytics Inc. Samsung Electronics Co. became the number one handset vendor in North America for the first time in Q3 2008.

Motorola Inc. had been the leading vendor since 2004 and Samsung unseated it from its throne as the leading vendor in the U.S.

Gigantic South Korean company reached the milestone with 22.4% of the market share compared with Motorola's 21.1%, which is huge down from the 32.7 percent that company scored a year ago!

Samsung's broad device portfolio across multiple carriers, technologies and segments were the key reasons behind its growth. By offering carriers a full portfolio of devices, from high-end products such as the touch-screen Instinct to lower-end phones given free to customers who sign up with a particular carrier Samsung has overtook Motorola.

Other notable gainers included LG which is on the third slot now with 20.5 percent of the market. Research In Motion has managed to capture 10.2% of U.S. market share with its s Smartphones, which put it in the fourth-place spot.

Nokia and Symbian are huge everywhere besides North America, and despite its worldwide market share of 38 percent, in the U.S. Nokia finished in fifth place with just 8.4% of the market share!

Apple's iPhone is positioned surprising low for the States and finished in the sixth-place position with poor 5.7% share of the market, not to mention that AT&T helped drive iPhone sales by heavily subsidizing the device and without that support Apple will be positioned even lower!
