+ HACK: Tweak Nokia Email Beta 3 To Work With Gmail!!

22 October 2008

Tweak Email Beta 3 to work with
Google Apps (Gmail for Domains)!

Nokia Email Service

As we informed you previously, Nokia has release Beta 3 version of its new Email Client which brings lot of more than welcome improvements but unfortunately it still lacks support for the Gmail.

Actually they said that setup is currently not working correctly for Google Apps and similarly hosted domains and they are working diligently to implement those accounts in future releases.

Apparently there is no need to wait for the next release, thanks to the little tweak that appeared over at forum section now it is possible to add your Google domain with just a little tweaking!

Here is the very simple and easy to follow Krypt's hack:

I figured out how to use Google Apps with Nokia Email with the help of a simple Javascript line. It isn't possible to adding your Google Apps emailaddress with the Nokia Email page because it says it cannot connect. Now the following procedure works very well:

Add a "valid" email address: Krypt@imap.gmail.com; Enter your Google Apps password for the account which you want to add; Enter your Display name and press next.

You'll get a screen with the question if it is an internet of business mail address. Click internet address and paste the following javascript line into the addressbar: Get the code HERE!

Change the emailaddress and press enter. Then press next. The next screen will display your edited email address. User imap.gmail.com as incoming server and port 993. Press Next and your Google App account will be added to Nokia Email.

I've created a blog with some screens. Take a look:
