In-depth S60 5th Ed Review (Russian)
A Screenshot Worth More than A Thousand Words!
There are countless clichés about the power of visual images, and probably the oldest one says that picture worth more than a thousands words and it especially applies in this case!
Eldar just impressed us again with another excellent review! This time it's about the new touch extended 5th Edition of the S60 platform.
As usually initially it is available in Russian only but there is no doubt that it will soon appear on the English section as well but due the hundreds of interesting screenshots it worth checking anyway!
The S60 5th Edition brings the most advanced set of features that enable new innovations and new experiences for consumers that want to fully embrace the use of Smartphone products.
Enhanced display resolution support and a new Widescreen mode further compliments the touch UI and enables engaging visual experiences. Also, for the first time, the platform includes a framework for the use of advanced sensor technology.
Anyway, here's the Nexus's quick translation of the conclusion part of Eldar's 5th edition review, full English translation is supposed to be available promptly, hopefully as early as tomorrow morning :]
Basically he thinks that S60 5th is a pretty mature platform even at this point. At first, there won't be many apps made for s60 5th ed, only the most popular ones will be released in the coming months. Worth mentioning are some of the new things, like adaptive search in the lists, better work with different accesses points, improved compatibility with MS Outlook, and impressive amount of languages out of the box.
If you don't search for something more, the S60 5th ed delivers a good out-of-the box experience and meets the needs of maximum number of people. The simplicity from one side, but wide functionality from the other. What it lacks is the flashy animations and icons of mobile MacOS, and also losses against iPhone's Safari browser. Otherwise it's on par or even better than Apple's solution.
Due to high interest for this device, Eldar is thinking about 3rd part of his review, there's still much to be said. (There might be some videos added to part 2 later on)
