+ Samsung i7110: My Thoughts + reviewed @ GSM Arena!

My Thoughts On
Latest Samsung S60 Smartphone!

Samsung i7110 Samsung is well known around the world for their sleek, sexy phones, high quality material & eye-catching design but apart from featuring nice looks Samsung i7110 is equipped with marvelous features pack as well.

Actually there's plenty to like about the i7110, it is S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 powered phone, it has 3G, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS, optical navigation and native DivX support.

In a matter of fact feature-wise it is almost identical to its big brother, highly-anticipated INNOV8 but it features 5MPX instead of 8MPX cam sensor and also lacks the 8GB of build in memory.

Although camera sensor isn’t as strong as the one in i8510, i7110 features exactly the same camera software. It offers features such as as smile shot, blink shot, face recognition, geotagging, auto panorama shot, digital image stabilization and the very intrensting interesting 120 frames per second slow motion video camera mode.

Speaking about camera software, probably the coolest feature is smile shot which basically allows you to trig the camera by putting the smile on your face without need to press the shutter button or setup timer and than rush in front of objective.

Optical mouse is another unique feature, it’s actually classic d-pad with mouse pointer in the middle that enables easy one-hand operation for even the most complex multitasking needs and is especially handy while browsing.

However, apart from having all the best features it is also equipped with AMOLED screen same as the Nokia N85 introduced few months ago. AMOLED screen maximizes the user’s visual experience with an unmatched range of hues and deeper, richer colours, providing for an exceptionally vivid view and with a little bit higher resolution it will be almost perfect solution.

I know I’m Repeating Myself but I just can’t resist to say once again that QVGA resolution ids totally outdated. It is stone-age technology that is not suitable for the latest high-end Smartphones.

An organic LED consists of organic light emitting pixels deposited onto a classic TFT (thin film transistor) array. A significant benefit of OLED displays over traditional liquid crystal displays (LCDs) is that OLED pixels illuminate on electrical activation without the need for the power hungry backlight and that’s the main reason why these screens are more power efficient. AMOLED’s pixels are also activated individually rather than row by row which further improves the power efficient in comparisons passive matrix OLEDs.

The only downside of the Samsung devices at the moment is the software actually, they still need to learn how to get the most from the S60 platform and try to increase compatibility with existing S60 applications. Just released Samsung Mobile Innovator portal for S60 developers is the step in right direction but I am afraid it will requires some time to involve more developers.

That’s all I have to say about in my short preview, Nokia should be warned that Samsung is really serious and that their domination over the S60 world is on the end. Unfortunately I am not rich enough to get any of those Samsung phones to test it and review it so all I can do is to point you in the right direction.

The folks from GSMarena have already managed to get the latest Samsung phone and review it just a few days after Samsung made its official debut at Symbian Smartphone Show in London.

Review is pretty detailed with lot of high-quality photos, screenshots and of camera and video recorder samples. Anyway, here is the final conclusion they made full review you can find over at GSMarena. To be honest with you I still didn't read it but I'll for sure, hopefully I'll find some spare time tomorrow.
