A Brief Introduction Into Mobile Web Server
To answer questions concerning innovative Nokia's Mobile Web Server concept, Jorma Hekkanen from Mobile Web Server Team made a video to explain the Nokia Web Server in deatils and to promte the new version of the Mobile Web Server, version 1.4 Beta.
For quite some time it has been possible to access the Internet using mobile phones, although the role of the phone has strictly been that of a client.
Considering that modern phones have processing power and memory on par with and even exceeding that of servers of the early web, there really is no reason anymore why webservers could not reside on mobile phones and why people could not create and maintain their own personal mobile websites.
Mobile Web Server is a concept developed by Nokia Research Center. The server available from mymobilesite.net is a next step towards an easy-to-use and easy-to-develop system.
The concept provides, for example, a Nokia gateway infrastructure for HTTP connectivity to devices; an easy registration of your own domain name; a Nokia signed MWS S60 software download; ready-made content that allows users to easily use, create content, and browse it immediately after setup; a web cache; an SSL connection security; and an authentication system for accessing the terminal content.
