Ovi Sync is Now Available!
Hey Guys!!! Here is a great news for all you freaks. Nokia has launched a new global ovi.com site.
The latest addition to this unified site is Ovi Sync which syncs contact, calendar, to-do and notes between your handset and the Ovi.com web site.
The front page of Ovi.com now shows your personalised information like your contacts, upcoming events, tasks and so on. You can also add widgets for Ovi Share or your flickr feed.
Ovi Sync allows you to sync contact, calendar, to do and notes entry from your phone to the Ovi.com web site.
This will act as a backup in case you brick your phone doing nasty things..... But, it will also allow you to edit the information on web browsers comfortably with PC keyboard, and after editing you can just hit sync on your mobile and you are done.
Doing a sync is very easy. You just have to login to ovi.com using your nokia account login and password. Then click on add device. Fill in the details and you will recieve a configuration message with the setting. Just click on save settings and you are done. Now whenever you want to sync the device, just go to sync in your mobile and syncronise.
Right now while syncing, I have faced some issues. It syncs some of the contacts correctly but for some it is not syncing the phone nos. of contacts on website. May be the support for all categories of contacts is still not there? Or may be its a bug in the first version? And the second drawback as of now is that sync is only manual and you cannot set a predefined interval for auto sync.
But overall I like the service and may be Nokia is going in a right direction and giving us a homepage where we can access all the information from our mobiles, manage it and share it.... May be nokia wants to go igoogle way.
My rating for this new feature is 7.5/10
Try it out guys.....
