My thoughts about the Nokia N82
The Last Chapter!

[1] - [2] - [3]

Nokia N82Ok, so now it's time for the 3rd, and the Last part of my Review.

In this part I'm going to see how good is the Camera on the Nokia N82, and also do a little comparison to the N95. So, incase you didn't know, the Nokia N82 has a 5 Megapixel Camera with a Xenon Flash and Carl Zeiss Optics.

The pictures this phone takes are just excellent quality, Close-ups are sharp, and Landscape pictures are beautiful.

The camera opens pretty quickly, faster than on N95, and it also saves the taken pictures pretty fast.

However, one annoying thing on the N82 pictures are, its the same problem as on the N95; the JPEG compression ai a little bit too aggressive, and pictures with much details get pretty easily a little blurry, but pictures with less details are really sharp.

Water painting effect in Landscape pictures,
and a sharper Close-up picture:

The Macro mode is pretty good, I compared it to the Macro mode of the N95, and they are really close to each other, so it's almost impossible to tell the difference, but i think that the N82 is a tiny bit better, if you look at this comparison:

However, the over-powerfull JPEG compression is not that bad on all landscape pictures, and you can take some pretty cool Landscape pictures with the N82.

The bottomline of the Image Quality:

The pictures are all sharp, the Colors seems to be really close to the Real-World Colors, everything is nearly perfect like on Digital Cameras. The only difference I can think of is that the N82 don't have Optical Zoom, and the N82 has also a little bit too much of JPEG Compression. Also the Video Quality is pretty good, but the Compression was a little disappointing.

The videos have really much compression, making them a little bit too blurry when filming something with much small details, such as walking in a forest, but when filming anything with a little less details, the video quality is just excellent.

And how is the N82 when compared to the N95?

Well, the overall size is really close to each other, the N82 is just a little taller, but a little slimmer also. the Screen is bigger on the N95, and the keys as well. The screen quality and brightness is about the same on both devices. And by software, the both phones are pretty much identical, as both run on the same Series60 3rd Edition FeaturePack1. the Performance of both phones are the same, and both phones have the Standard hardware requirements of a S60 3rd Ed FP1 phone, such as Brightness sensor and an Accelerometer.

Overall the N95 and N82 are really close to each other, for me deciding which one is better would be really difficult; I love Slider phones (like N95), but I also like shiny phones (like N82). As for the camera, both phones are almost equal, except the N82 has a Xenon Flash. However, I would pick my N95 over the N82, as I love sliders that gives easy control of the portrait/landscape changes, and I don't do that many Night Shots, so the LED instead of the Xenon is not that bad for me.
