My thoughts about the Nokia N82!
So, I got the Nokia N82 as a trial phone for a few weeks, and decided to share my toughts with you, and I also made a little comparison of the Nokia N82 and my Nokia N95.
I got the phone as a Trial phone from WOMworld. The phone arrived a few days after I got informed that the phone has been shipped.
I was quite surprised about the condition of the package. It was not in the best condition, but however, all contents seemed to be just fine.
The contents were about what was expected; Nokia N82, TV-Out cable CA-75U, Headset HS-43 etc. but surprisingly 2 got CA-101 USB cables and 2 batteries: 1 standard 1050mAh, and 1 weird 1000mAh battery. I also got a white case for the phone and a users guide, which was not like those normal user guides.
And then to the "real part"
At the first look it looks just like a normal phone, except the keys are much different compared to the "normal" keys used on most phones.
Then when looking more closely, i see the Memory card slot on the side as expected and different from my N95, the USB plug and charger connector is on the side of the phone, and the 3.5mm audio connector is on the top of the phone, which is much better solution than keeping it on the side like N95 has.
Also surprisingly I didn’t find a pencil key on the phone! However, after doing some research on it, i figured out that the # key has the effect of the Pencil key, but still many applications use the pencil key, and therefore they are pretty difficult to use on the N82.
As I said before, the keys were pretty unique, and it looks like its really difficult to use them, but it turned out to be pretty easy to use them actualy, as when you have the phone in your hand, the keys are pretty much at the bottom of the phone, so the thumb usually turns a bit sideways to reach the keys, which pretty much solves the key size problem.
Also the middle button of the D-pad was part of the D-pad, and not another button in the middle like on N95, and it took a little time to get used to it after using my N95 with the middle button as another button the D-pad. Also the Red and Green call keys on the sides are a little harder to press, which is a good thing so your pockets don’t hang up or answer your incoming phone calls.
The camera on the phone is a 5Mpix camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and a Xenon Flash, which is a very good improvement over the Led Flash on the N95, and more about that in the next part.
I will be writing 2 more parts, about the general usage and features of the phone, and Image & Video Quality and a comparison to the N95.
