+ Comming soon: Major Update for Resco Photo Viewer

18 July 2008

Resco Photo Viewer Gets An Update
Turn Your Nokia Into Digital Photo Album

Resco Photo ViewerAfter the successful beta testing period I am proud to announce that major update for the best 3rd party gallery application for S60 phones is on the way.

Lots of considerable improvements and new features have been implemented and once again Resco Photo Viewer is proving to be the only serious alternative to default S60 Gallery application!

Although I know most of you will not agree with me, default S60 gallery is the pretty bad solution in my personal opinion!

OK, there is no doubt that it looks awesome, it causes a wow-effect at first sight but after some time it could become very annoying, especially considering that it slows down as the number of images growth but it is not the main problem.

The most annoying issue is fact that it lacks any kind of sorting and it puts all stuff media files together into one single bin, stuffs like images, downloaded and recorded video clips, taken screens shots and so long. Of course, theoretically it supports albums but this feature is implemented in completely useless way because even after sorting images to albums it leaves all of them in main view.

Because of all mentioned reasons Resco Photo Viewer is must have application for any serious S60 users and it is highly suggestible to try it at least, you’ll not be sorry believe me. Application is especially helpful tool when you need to sort and organize your photos into folders.

In a matter of fact it is totally renewed application with excellent viewing possibilities and respectable speed in manipulating with heavy 5 mpx photos, it is simply amazing how easy it deals with millions of pixels!

Resco Photo Viewer

  • Devices without the pencil (shift) key (e.g. N6120 Classic):
  • Long press of the '#' key is interpreted as shift
  • Zooming in the preview mode loads full sized image if needed
  • Preview mode enables image panning (use shift+arrows)
  • Play music in the slideshow
  • Store your own slideshows for later use
  • Remembers last highlighted image/folder
  • Added option for keeping backlight on when viewing images
  • Improved Exif information dialog
  • Support for EXIF rotation
  • Usage of the GPS information stored in Exif:
  • Menu allows you to launch Google Maps in the web browser showing the related location. (You need a camera producing GPS information)

Some ideas like Auto Screen Rotaion are still being tested with implementation around the corner but will not be include in this release unfortunately.
