"Open Source Goes Mobile"
Nokia To Hold Open Source Developer Expo
Nokia will be hosting a special event I'm sure our avid Symbian Freak developers will surely enjoy.
Extending an open invitation to all open source developers from the Linux/Maemo, c, c++, and Python developers, Nokia has announced they will be holding a free to attend workshop called "Open Source Goes Mobile".
The symposium will occur alongside the upcoming LinuxWorld expo in San Francisco, California the first week of August. Nokia is basically holding an Open Source Developer Day, showing the open source communites how to develop applications for Symbian's S60 platform, proudly touted by Nokia as the world's biggest smartphone community.
Nokia will be unveiling new business opportunities, technical updates, and even offering free technical training for open source development on mobile devices. Public roundtable type discussions will be held on Python, Open c++, STL, Maemo, Qt, and any other topics developers may wish to discuss.
Nokia actually is urging developers to bring their laptops as well, as they will also be distributing all the necessary tools and step by step instructions to create and port an open source solution from start to finish.
No public event would be complete without free stuff, and attendees won't be disappointed. All attendees will receive a free one day pass to LinuxWorld. Throughout the event, Nokia will also be awarding prizes such as Nokia N95 8gb's, today's most advanced smartphones, and Nokia N800's, Maemo powered web tablets.
Seats for both the "Open Source Goes Mobile" workshop and LinuxWorld event will be limited, so hurry and register to reserve your spot today!
