Symbian celebrates its 10th Birthday!!
Symbian is actually 10 Year’s old this June! Ca’ you believe it! Symbian celebrates its 10th anniversary and there are ten pretty good reasons to celebrate so let's cherish this moment and celebrate Symbian's first decade!
Symbian is born as Psion's software forearm becomes Symbian. The original shareholders are Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola and Psion.
The initial 150 employers worked out of the affectionately remembered 'sweetshop' building, an unassuming block located in Harcourt Street, London ...and the rest is history!!!!
Today, Symbian is leading mobile OS and shipping a total of 18.5 million Symbian mobile phones through over 250 major network operators globally in the quarter, and they have now surpassed the 200 million cumulative shipment mark!
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. In the way we approach new technologies to help the world's leading handset manufacturers, in the way we reach to understand and deliver to their individual needs, in the way our people work together to help the entire mobile industry succeed. Nigel Clifford, CEO.
There is an also a special Symbian @ 10 pages where you can learn about the Symbian history and get a chance to sign Symbian’s birthday card and share your story!
Symbian OS wouldn't be what it is today without the hard work, creativity and raw intelligence - not to mention sweat - of the much wider developer community.
Let’s cherish this moment
