Transform Your S60 Phone
Into Cheap Multitouch Pad

Cheap Multitouch PadDon’t have a Multitouch Table yet? Have one, but need something smaller for testing? How about building a small portable multitouch pad that will cost you nothing?!

If I understand this correctly, basically all you need to get it to work is a box, camera and room with a normal ambient light.

The original project use the cheap web cams for building the multitouch pad but it is apparently possible do it with your lovely phone and Mobiola Webcam application over the USB connection.

I just discover this, video made by our Rodak69 so I am not quite sure how the software from the PC side works but I trully hope that it is possible to use the nice freeware WWIGO web cam application and make a some kind of wireless and portable Multitouch Table, that will be cool?!

It shouldn’t be that hard to build one as it works on the pretty simple system. When you place your fingers on the surface, shadows are created where your fingers are. The camera of your phone which is placed inside the box sees these shadows and sends the image to the tracking software which tracks the shadows as they move around and that’s all about and it is really that simple.

Author says that results will be best when the room lighting is even, no bright lights shining from one direction onto the multitouch pad. Anyone going to try to build one!?? Maybe you can try it out to see if it’s work or not?!
