+ Project White Rock - Mysterious Cross platform game?

03 May 2008

Nokia goes multi-format with mysterious
N-Gage's Project White Rock!

Project White RockIt's taken time, but finally we have some exciting information about Nokia Games Publishing's secret Project White Rock!

According to the Pocket Gamer, Nokia works on the some kind of the cross platform game that should be playable on the phones as well as on the PC.

It seams that millions of game-capable handsets aren't enough for Nokia. The Finnish company, which holds approximately a third of the world's mobile market share, wants to target gamers beyond its N-Gage platform – more specifically, it wants to rope them into the next generation of N-Gage.

To do this, the company is to push beyond N-Gage exclusivity to bring PCs into the fold with an as-yet unannounced game.

Produced by Nokia Games Publishing, the closely-guarded Project White Rock is being developed by RedLynx, best known for the award-winning High Seize.

In an interview with Edge magazine, the title has been officially announced as Reset Generation, while producer Scott Foe has spoken about how the key mechanic of user-generated content based around the theme of spoofed classic game characters will work across both platforms.

The web version of the game will be freely available and enable players to customise the game's assets, while the mobile game will feature turn-based action using said characters. Pocket Gamer has picked White Rock as the number one Nokia-produced game in 2008 and The Guardian called the title one of the "most promising" of 2008.
