+ Cloning (r)evolution: Surprising good looking N95 clone!?

02 January 2008

Evolution of the China's cloning industry,
Incredible good looking Fake Nokia 95!!!!

Fake Nokia 95I have already wrote about incredible well looking Chinese Nokia N93i clone and name it as the best Chinese fake so far and I've just found something over at forum section that again proves that cloning technology has advanced significantly which is pretty scary?

These advances were made possible by significant improvements in cloning techniques, in the decade since Dolly’s birth, scientists have successfully cloned over a dozen other species and thanks to the very talented Chinese cloning scientists Nokia is the last one :)))))

Now seriously, there is no doubt that they managed to copy the designs and formfactor of this famous manufacturer very well, and this time they have even managed to clone the software as well but functionality is far away because they completely failed to copy company's high-end technology. Again at the first sight it looks like the classic S60 UI and with such a detailed cloned hardware it can cause pretty confusion situations. It is not a problem for so called power users but unexpired newbie in the Symbian world could be really easily tricked!

Of course he was happy about it... Some time later he calls me and asks me to tell him where to buy GPS module? Thought that’s a bit strange ‘cuz N95 has one built in =).

Also he asked me why his max resolution of photos only 640*480 is =). That’s was it. I knew that he bought some Chinese version. First I thought that he has that touch screen dual sim that looks similar to N95.

Inside there is no holo stickers of GENIUNE NOKIA and its mentioned only as N95, and not as Nokia N95-1

But than SHOCK, he had EXACT copy of it. Here are some photos of the copy compared to original. N95 users would recognize that its fake one but new people can be easily tricked.

Even the OS of copy os some kinda symbian looklike, but its way uglier and doesnt have 5% function that original OS has

To sum up, as I have la ready said in the article about fake N93i, although Chinese products looks better and better with every release they are still designed to be sold on the black market with typical working time from midnight to morning.

Cloners are ready to fill any gaps and they are look for opportunities and major manufacturers often give it to them in the form of a hot overpriced flagship product that are offered for the limited number of markets at very high prices.

Don't know if this is normal on other markets on genuine Nokias, but i have never seen Nokia keyboard with Russian symbols =)

I just hope that in the future they’ll not only aspire to copy the designs of a western manufacturer on the cheap way. I believe that ear of reverse engineering is behind them and that soon or later we can expect that they will offer clone with capabilities beyond the original.
