Record GPS tracks from your mobile
and trace them on a map

A shape service has released the beat version of its brand new GPS based service.

GPSed is a location-based service for trip tracking from mobile phone similar to Nokia Sport Tracker but with extended functionality.

Tracks are traced in real time on Google maps and stored in an online archive and besides the tracking it also features simple geotagging feature it is possible to pin photos to a map precisely at a place they were taken.

GPSed is fully compatible with all S60 devices equipped with the internal receivers GPS like Nokia N95 or Nokia N82 but it also supports devices that uses external GPS receiver via Bluetooth.

Actually it is compatible with any device or software that can record tracks in GPX, PLT, KML so basically you can even import the tracks from the Nokia Sports Tracker as it supports exporting in KML format.

In areas without network coverage it is still possible to record tracks by a mobile device. These tracks can be imported to GPSed when you are in the area with good network coverage or from your PC or Mac. Positioning data can be transferred online via GSM, EDGE, 3G or WiFi networks.
