No Further Development of
Screenshot for Symbian OS

Symbian freeware scene under serious crises?I guess that you all know how terrible situation with Symbian signed is at the moment, or as the Antony said, process is more or less dead now and therefore he has decided to stop further development of the Screenshot application for Symbian OS and actually abandon the Symbian platform at all.

“There is no official statement from Symbian yet, but my last freeware application has been stuck there for more than 3 months. I have sent emails to some Symbian persons who might be able to help; but got no response.” said Antony.

Considering that most end users overwhelmingly prefer good freeware applications and solutions developed by talented young developers, instead of expensive commercial soft this is extremely bad news for all of them.

Actually from the end user-stand point, situation with the new security system and signing process is simply terrible, it sucks a lot, especially considering its now even impossible to do self signing because certification process for self signing is down for some time now.

Ch'mon Symbian, make it easier and faster for both developers and end users or you’ll loose both of them, one Smartphone platform is completely pointless without talented developers and so called power users.

What are you doing?! Nokia has put huge effort to attract developers and now with this terrible service Symbian itself forcing them to shit their applications and ideas to other mobile platforms?

To sum on, the current process of Symbian Signed for freeware and open source developers is unacceptable difficult, if you would like to see Symbian OS as successful platform that will keep its leading position take actions as soon as possible, make it easier or offer different channel to get application signed.
