New version of Nokia Maps application
to be available soon for public

Just to briefly inform you that I’ve got an exclusive copy of the latest version of the Nokia maps application yesterday, Smart2go is finally out of beat state and I am currently testing version 1.0.

So, as I said, it comes out of it’s beta state, it brings lot of improvements, application is stabile and ready for public release which will be in next few days as far as I know.

Can’t tell you much about after just few hours of testing but so far I can give you some screens and say that interface is redesigned, improved with new colours, indicators, semitransparent highlights and looks much better now and the list of improvements also looks promising:

  • Navigation Trial: 3-day free Navigation trial
  • New indicators: GPS status, bandwidth indicators
  • Map improvements: Coloring, details, horizon, country borders & time zones
  • Unified search: All search methods in one menu & intuitive search interaction
  • Improved category search: Multi-level search (Eat + Drink -> Restaurants -> Thai)
  • Faster navigation start: Starts before full route calculated, starts w/o GPS fix
  • Faster MapLoader: Download speed improved significantly & voice command download
  • New regions: India and Indonesia plus better coverage in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore (in total more than 100 countries/over 50 navigable)
