+ iPhone!? No, Thank You!!

Some thoughts on mobile web browsers!

Well, as the official shipment of the famous Apple iPhone getting get closer and closer, I'm getting closer and closer to conclusion that it isn’t as “revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone” as said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO few months ago.

I know that some of you will not agree with me, but in my personal opinion this fancy piece of hardware is simply one of the most overrated, overpriced, and hyped up pieces of hardware on the market ever, for me, iPhone I just a nasty Apple’s marketing trick.

Speaking of the iPhone and its revolutionary features, Apple claims that iPhone is first mobile phone with support for full mobile web browser? What a ridiculous and arrogant statement without any relevant argument!?

Sure, freaks like us know that this is just a joke, another nasty product of Apple’s marketing but if you take a tour over the blogs you’ll see that lot of people that aren’t familiar with S60 phones will believe in this statement actually and take it as a truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth.

So to clear all doubts I’ve decided to write this article and say NO, iPhone isn’t the first phone with full mobile web browser. Freaks like us know that Nokia has developed and introduced the first truly full web browser more than a year ago with its first S60 3rd edition phone. Or, as the Franklin from s60 browser blog says: “To date over 50 million S60 3rd Edition phones from Nokia, Samsung and LG have shipped! (About half of the 100 million S60 phones are 3rd Edition.)"

So, to sum on, as I have already said numerous times, the safari based browser shipped with S60 3rd edition phones is the best mobile web browser on the world. Web Browser for S60 is based on WebCore and JavaScriptCore open source components that are used by Apple's Safari Internet browser.

Even better the latest version of the Safari browser is improved a lot and brings some innovations like floating toolbars, improved feed reader, search feature, image manager, great bookmarks manager with support of favicons, tabbed browsing, altogether with older very well known features like visual history and mini map makes this pice of soft on the first position.

Last but not the least, the just announced Opera mini browser designed for Java enabled phones has all features unveiled on iPhone’s Safari browser and some of them are even better implemented. Same as S60 default browser, Opera Mini 4 sports Safari’s impressive zoom feature that enables users to see a large thumbnail image of a web page, and navigate or zoom to specific sections of the page by tapping in that location and best of all it is free completely.

Finally, here is the cute video that proves all what I have said:
