MagnaChip Launches AMOLED Display Solution for
High Performance Mobile Phone Displays

Another rainy morning, another cup of coffee, I am so sleepy and lazy today, probably because of the rain but let's continue with some technology news.

MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd., a leading global designer, developer and manufacturer of image sensor solutions, mixed-signal and digital multimedia semiconductors, today announced the launch of its optimized Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode solution, designed for use in the displays of high performance mobile phones.

You see, if you've been here for long enough then you're well aware of my love for phones that use high resolution screens and therefore I’m really excited about screen technology. There is no doubt that this OLED technology is promising, it has some advantages over the classic LCDs and that it would be nice to see such screens on mobile phones, but to be honest I am not impressed with this one.

I guess mainly because I am not impressed with the resolution and the physical size as well and I would rater choose this Toshiba screen for my next smart, actually, this Hitachi’s 2.9-inch WVGA beauty will be perfect solution IMO.

The unique solution, supporting WQVGA, 240x432 resolution and 262K colors, is expected to be ready for mass production this month. This product was designed to meet the specific requirements of display panels for mobile TV phones and multimedia phones. Embedded with EEPROM, it controls RGB gamma, oscillator frequency and internal power.

The MDDI interface of Qualcomm allows for high speed data transmission. This solution also offers longer battery life time, due to a special feature that adjusts screen brightness automatically. Further, the solution offers an RGB-separated gamma adjustment, which provides superior, stable color display, and as a result, more natural still images and video images.
