Resco released Photo Viewer 4.40
for S60 3rd edition

The long awaited Resco Photo Viewer for S60 3rd edition has been released on Friday, 15th, 2006.

Resco, a leading provider of end-user mobile applications, has announced the availability of a new 3rd ed version of one of the company's best selling application.

Current version is not signed (not tested and certified by Symbian authority). It means that you can't use some features (e.g. Set as wallpaper, Send) which need sis file to be signed. The signed version will be released after all bugs and suggestions will be fixed/implemented.

You see, my opinion about default gallery application which is introduced with Feature pack 3 (2nd edition) are very well know. There is no doubt that it looks awesome, it causes a wow-effect at first sight but after some time it could become very annoying, especially considering that it slows down as the number of images growth.

Beside the speed problem, build in gallery application has one really huge annoyance, it lacks any kind of sorting and it puts all stuff together into one single bin, stuffs like images, downloaded and recorded video clips, taken screens shots and so long.

Now try to imagine how hard is to find right file if you have few hundreds of images and numerous video clips, with mentioned speed issue it sometime seems as a “Mission: Impossible”.

Because of the all mentioned problems Resco Photo viewer (RPV) is the crucial tool for all symbian freaks, must have application for all power users and therefore is extremely good news.

In short RPV is a unique imaging tool that provides an excellent speed, photo display quality, editing capabilities and a broad array of functions. RPV allows users to organize a large number of pictures and to view images easily and quickly.

The latest 3rd edition version offers few improvements in terms of speed and stability as well as some new features like Zoom indicator.

Besides organizing and manipulating features RPV offers a few standard editing functions such a cropping, resizing, colour correction, etc. Also it offers powerful and fancy slideshow function that allows users to present photo albums in quite new way with lot of cool transitions between images.

Even though that RPV has been very stable for quite some time now, it is still not signed and not finished completely. So please report if you find something weird, especially important bugs, very important missing features or suggestions for improvements to the Resco Team which looking for real user experience and feedback.
