Y-Browser; First file manager
for 3rd ed with full system access!!

Y-Browser is a file manager for Symbian OS (S60) devices. It doesn’t do as much as FExplorer yet, but it has most standard features that you'd use on files & folders.

Anyway, the most interesting part of this application is that it is fully compatible with all Series 60 3rd Edition phones and it has full access to all system resources on 3rd ed devices.

This means that it is able to browse system and private folders and somehow bypass whole new 3rd Edition (OS 9.1) Platform Security which is based on the idea that nobody gets access to those data caged directories.

This is quite an annoying issue in my personal opinion, its like having Windows without having access to system or program files directory!? Actually it drops down our so called 'smart phones' to the 'dummy' s40 level and make it impossible to get the most out of our favourite devices by modding and tweaking them to meet our needs.

Although the application still can't write to the sys and resource directories, as far as we know its due the afore mentioned new platform security in Symbian OS v9.1 that requires AllFiles certificate from the Symbian Signed team as well as TCB from Nokia to be able to access and write to the sys and resource directories.

Even worse, moving or copying files into those directories isn’t permanent. For example, if we create or copy some files to the data caged directories directly, those files will be removed on the next boot-up of the device. At the moment, an application installer is the only application that can permanently modify the content of these directories.

Considering that a 3rd party file manager with full system access is probably one of the first applications you would need on your device and is crucial tool for all symbian freaks this is extremely good news, the application is highly recommended by Symbian Freak Team and definitely it worth downloading.
