Nokia N93 -:- Hands On Preview

I just got back from a short trip and I’m so proud to say that I was lucky enough to take the N93 and to be one of the first to get hands on it.

Nokia N93 is the Nokia flagship imaging smart phone (or newly so called multimedia computer) from the latest Nokia N-series wave, which was announced few months ago at the Nokia Open Studio presentation in Berlin and have begun with shipping early this morning.

I'm going to be short and blunt tonight, not only beacuse I feel little tired of travel or because I don't have too much time, mainly it is because I just can’t tell you much more about after just few hours. As some of you may know Nokia N93 is the second phone in Nokia imaging line and it pretend to be successor of the famous and revolutionary Nokia N90.

I’ll not try to deny that this is one of the biggest phones at the moment, it’s even a little bit larger and heavier than the N90 but after more than one year with N90 in my pocket in my personal opinion it really doesn’t matter. Width, length, height, weight or even price after all, who care about!? Physical measures are completely irrelevant facts about this amazing phone, features before all and if you even take just a brief look at specifications you’ll noticed that N93 simply rocks in every single point, list of features is amazing, N93 is the Rolls Royce among Smartphones.

Nokia N93 comes in two different cover colours, Pearl Black and Aluminium Grey, I’ll rather take the black one but I hadn’t choice and therefore I took the aluminium grey version which definitely looks better than I’ve though.

My girlfriend claims that it looks, much, much better than the N90 and I have to admit with her, silver version looks really nice, but.. ..

I just don’t have right feeling with this phone, it definitely doesn’t looks as strong as the N90 and in my personal it looks to plastic, cheap and to weak, but who knows, maybe after few days of heavy testing I’ll change my opinion.

Oh, I’ve said that I’m going to be short and look where I am now, I have to stop and leave something for the review that will be ready as soon as possible.

Few brief facts.. ..

  • Oh yes, it has vibrate and it is strong enough;
  • zooming mechanism isn’t as noisy as we though,
  • System Rush is preinstalled as well as Snake 3d and Card deck,
  • UI is fast, noticeable faster than on N90, but at the same time if we can believe to System explorer it has surprising slow CPU as well as pretty small amount of free RAM;
  • there are few annoying firmware issues that I’ve fund so far but I have to test it a little bit more before spotting about,
  • I’m also disappointed with main screen pixel destiny as well as with outer display size and functionality;
  • I don’t like the rubber solution for the minSD cover same as pretty clumsy lens protector;
  • external N90 joystick is incomparable better solution than the small N93’s joy pad which is very difficult to use,
  • led flash isn't as strong as it should be, it provide cool red light while recording and it can be used as a torch very simply by pressing dedicated flash key.

That’s all for tonight, hope that helps, any question is more than welcome, so please don’t be hesitate to ask anything, I’m ready to answer on every single question
