SExplorer v0.7 Beta
First Series 60 3rd Edition Freeware application

SExplorer is written in C++ and compatible with all Series 60 3rd Edition phones.

This includes the currently available Nokia 3250, and all upcoming 3rd edition phones like N71, N80, N91, N92, E60, E61, and E70.

In my personal opinion file manager is probably one of the first application you would need on your device, a really must have application for all power users and therefore this is really great news.

It doesn’t do as much as FExplorer yet but covers most of what we need from such an application.

The only bad thing in whole story is that as the application is Not Symbian Signed it hasn’t access to all directories, I mean it lacks access to all protected system folders, and therefore it isn’t as useful as I thought.

However this is still very cool news mainly because it’s the first file manager for 3rd edition, the first freeware 3rd edition application, and it’s the second available 3rd party application for 3rd edition (OS 9.1)

Feature overview

  • Browsing of C: D: E: and Z: with file sizes.

  • Opening of files according to their file type (e.g. .txt in Notes application).

  • Renaming of files and directories.

  • Copying and moving files of files and directories.

  • Deleting files and directories.

  • Creating new folders.

  • Editing small (text) files under 200 bytes.

User Guide

  • Use -> to go into directory or open file.

  • Use <- to go back a directory.

  • All other functions are via Options...

Known Problems:

  • Icon too small.

  • Does not browse 'sys' and 'private' folders. This is due to platform security in Symbian 9.1. The final release, Symbian signed version will (hopefully) have AllFiles capability.

This is beta software. Install and use at your own risk. Please email bugs and new feature requests to support@simonjudge.com
