hello all, just wondering on what is the maximum size available RS MMC dual voltage memory cards available for nokia 6680? and would a say 1gb in size card run and function ok in a nokia 6680 as there is not alot of available ram? 7mb at the best of times, or does RAM not an issue?
i would like to use my 6680 as a mp3 player, as ive just purchased a set of headphones with adapter (well not yet there xmas present.lol) and if i load up a 1gb card (if available 2gb even better) full of mp3 or probally .ogg's, would it affect the speed, genral running of my phone?
also anyone point me in right direction to purchase, recomended makes companys etc, etc, would be great.
thanx in advance

To my knowlege, the largest card available for your phone, at this point, is a 512MB.
I purchased one here in the States from an online store called FlashMemory.com for fifty dollars U.S.
It was supposed to be a Sandisk card but what I received was an unlabeled card that was manufactured in Taiwan.
When I called them on it and told them I was returning the card because I ordered the Sandisk, they encouraged me to try it and while reluctant at first, I did try it and it is and has been functioning perfectly in my Nokia 6682.
No regrets after nearly two months of heavy use.

i see there is 1gb RS MMC DV cards on ebay? here is a link, can someone confirm this would work on my 6680?
and its ?3.49 but ?40 for postage.
lol. would not cost that much to post, even from hong kong, but i guess thats there way of making you click the buy it now button. crafty. but i still dont mind paying ?40 - ?50 for a 1gb card, AS long as it is compatible for my nokia 6680.

some branded firmware's use more ram i believe, someone correct if wrong. normally i have between 6 - 7mb free ram on a normal boot, and after ive loaded the hidden apps to make them start faster when needed, ie menu phonebook and log. once you open these apps and close them they still remain running hidden for faster accses next time you need the menu, phonebook or log. i think this is correct, please someone state overwise if i am incorrect?? i can get to just over 8mb in safe mode, with no hidden apps running atall, which is required for me to play certain games such as c2doom.
i dont find my 6680 to be too slow at all. i dont see a whole lot of difference between my 6630 and 6680.
i think the nokia 6680 would be an awsem device if only nokia gave it more available free mem.

Well, I agree with you Marty, but also I think that 6680 is little slower, especially in menu respond and applications running, mainly because it has more colors to process in comparison to 6630.
However; there is no doubt, 6680 should has more RAM, it?s the huge mistake from Nokia, even in safe mode with killed all background processes its hard to get more than 8 MB free RAM

i have just over 8mb, BUT this is in safe mode without any other hidden app running only fexplerer..

you see its just over 8mb, 8004kb be very hard to achieve more than this on 6680 i think.? damm nokia.
nice phone, just terrible shame about such low ram

yes it is slower than 6630, i never thought it was, but just tested them side by side on certain things and 6630 was faster. oh well, hurry up nokia with my n80
