Marvell Announces Another Breakthrough in Chip Technology: World's First Quadruple Core Processor for ARM Instruction Set

Marvell, a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced another breakthrough in advanced chip design: the world's first ‘quadruple’ core processor for applications utilizing the ARM instruction set.
Building on a long and successful history of CPU core development and previous multicore implementations, Marvell's achievement represents a milestone breakthrough for the ARM ecosystem with many positive implications for consumers.
Based on the same CPU architecture as the Marvell ARMADA 500 and 600 processor series, Marvell's quadcore implementation can deliver gigahertz-plus processing per core and is desi... .. .

Maybe i'll get this (model) to replace my N97(nearing extinction). And i know it will take awhile before this chip will be introduced on a new phone.
Hopefully i can afford it lol!

Sounds interesting...
Would be neat to have this put into a Maemo device. (M6 device?)
Or that they finally would make a Symbian-flagship topping the N95: With this processor, GPU and 512Mb RAM. (To equal the 512Mb of RAM you would need around, lets say, 250/350Mhz clock on each core?)
But hey, it might be saved for the release of Symbian^3. Then we would talk about hardcore hardware when they introduce HD. (Read about that on Symbian.org) Thats when Nokia will blow up the atomic bomb hidden in the smartphone market. (Not literally..)
128Mb GPU RAM is more then my computer has...
(I got 64Mb, its an integrated card, soo..)

Unfortunately this news is slightly incorrect.
Although Marvell announced first at CES2010, it's actually nVidia with the Tegra2 which is the first quad-core cpu!
Also I'd rather have Tegra2's platform than Marvell's.

AFAIK neither Marvell nor Tegra are the first examples of quad-core ARM processors. NEC had a board with 4x ARM11 cores a few years ago - Symbian did a demo on one back in 2008: http://smartphoneshow.wordpress.com/200 ... ad-damage/
Do we know if the Marvell part has ARM Cortex-A9 cores? If so, I imagine it could be the first to have four of those.
In any case, this CPU does sound like a bit of beast

When were going to see it on mobile phones thats available to the public?
I want Nokia to be the first to Use this all Multi-core processor..if not the first use it soon!
