Technology Preview: Experimental Multitouch UI For S60 5th Ed
The first multi-touch like interface was introduced way back in 2006, when the NYU professor Jeff Han wowed the crowd at the March TED conference with a demo of his multitouch research.
As you probably already know, due to various technology limitations it was only possible to get multitouch interface on capacitive screens but at the MWC in Barcelona, Stantum has demoed a multitouch interface on resistive screen that combines the multi touch interface with the accuracy of a resistive screens with an amazing result.
The only problem with this technology is that it requires specialized hardware so there won?t be an upgrade for existing touch devices!
Fortunately, my friend Jamie Fuller, developer of the cool Rotary Dialer application and an addictive Sensitive game for S60 touch devices goes 'beyond touch' with the release of his new project that is supposed to bring a multi-touch like interface to Nokia S60 dev... ..

Very nice indeed!
Nice game concept.
Also, is it possible to use three or even four buttons at the same time? As in the video you only used 2
If you need a tester, then I'll be more than happy to assist you in development!

Thanks Sbm007, the underlying technology could support three button presses however it would make this kind of game a bit to difficult, as you would have to use more than your two thumbs to play
Thanks for offering to be a tester, If its OK, I'll contact you again when its ready for testing.

How did you do this? Was the single-touch limitation imposed by the OS? Did you access the hardware directly or something?
Hi Sarge,
No, there was no access the low level hardware and no bypassing of the OS.
the 5800 still isn't capable of detecting multiple presses but with some maths and a little planning it can be overcome in certain circumstances.
When I have a little more time I will document the exact method I used in detail. I will also provide source code examples. but first I need to finish the game

honestly, I'm beginning to think you are spamming... you left 25 or so posts in under 40 minutes, a lot of which were inane...
30dirtybirds, I'd love to read how that works.
