DivX Mobile Player 0.90 released; a direct comparison to Core Player?

Image

The DivX folks have just released a new (0.90) beta of their free (!) DivX / XviD player DivX Mobile Player for Windows Mobile and Symbian (note that while they state there's no 0.90 for the latter, only 0.89, the internal version number does state it's too 0.90).

Note that you'll need to register yourself in order to be able to access the app; after this, click the URL that comes in the e-mail, change your password and, then, go HERE to directly access the downloads. Back in the pre-1.2.0 CorePlayer times, several Symbian people used to state CorePlayer was definitely inferior to this application. This is why I was extremely interested in the results of my tests. CorePlayer 1.2+ (o+... .. .

Ah, thanks for that, I was wondering how the new version of the DivX player is. As I expected, still not on a par with Coreplayer...

Somebody should write a tutorial on how to get a standard divx encoded file (say from a torrent) to play on the N95. So which programs to use and to re-encode the file to which resolution...

thanks

:hmm: Why the need for a tutorial? Ok, here goes... TUTORIAL!
"How To Play Standard DivX Files On the N95"

1. From the standby screen, press and release the menu/task switcher button.
or
1a. (If running JBak Taskman) Press and hold the menu/task switcher button, and activate the Application Launcher.

2. Arrow through the list (or begin spelling) until the application Coreplayer  appears.

3. Assume the task of launching DivX, and countless other formats, in the most complete media format solution available for mobile devices, hands down. 8)

I'm the biggest fan of freeware, but there simply is no comparable application available with so many different codecs supported. This is the media champion for any mobile platform, and if you have an S60 3rd edition device, and you don't have Coreplayer, you're cheating yourself! :hm:

It eliminates the need to convert formats at all! If you're too cheap to bless a $600 phone with $25 worth of near perfect media compatibility, try Super for converting. It encodes however you like, with every option you could imagine!

I used to use it before I graduated to Coreplayer, and recommend it to any cheapskate for any media conversions.
