Nimbuzz Application To Be Ported For The Nokia N900!

Image

According to a recent post and the poll results (Nokia Maemo 43%, Linux 19, Blackberry Bold 18%, Symbian UIQ 17% and Palm Pre just 3%) on the official Nimbuzz blog, the next supported device will be Nokia N900 and they’ll start with porting application to Maemo 5 platform as soon as possible!!!

The results show clearly that Nokia Maemo is one the most popular operating systems, with 43% of users votes it leads the list of most requested operating systems to be supported and leaves others trailing behind close to each other. Linux, Blackberry and Symbian OS are on the second, third and forth place.

The poll results also show that there are a lot of Open Source fans among you which is great! Linux is second option in our top and this can be explained by the growing numbers of Netbooks and notebooks that run on Ubuntu. The Ubuntu UI has evolved a lot in the last few yea... .. .

Looks interesting. I've never checked out Nimbuzz since Fring pretty much has me covered in S60 for my IM needs, will be interested to check it out...

And how did you come to that conclusion from the referenced blog post? The blog post doesn't mention anything like that. It just mentions that Nimbuzz can be tried on other platforms until the platforms in the poll are supported. It doesn't say that Maemo will be supported. You might as well also deduce that Symbian UIQ will be supported as it is part of the poll.

Or do you know something more than what is mentioned in the blog post? :-)

Let’s say that I have pretty healthy cooperation with Nimbuz folks ;) not to mention they have runned this poll just to see what the user want and need the most

In my opinion the best instant messenger service for the S60 platform, and the ONLY reason I am not using it is because it eats up my battery twice as fast as Slick ;P

This is very good news! Hopefully it wont eat up the N900 battery :) Maybe it's easier to make energy efficient applications for the linux platform ^_^

Sounds great, but what I really would really like to see, that more IM-Services (icq, aim, yahoo) would be integrated direct into the os, like they already did with ovi, skype and gtalk.
