Symbian^3 Version Of Mobbler
Applications Graduates Out of Beta
The latest version of Symbian's Last.fm client, that brought support for Symbian^3 devices has been available in public beta for awhile now so it is no surprise that it is finally ready for prime time.
Michael Coffey, creator and project lead of Mobbler, confirmed today through his Twitter account that his Last.fm client for Symbian' devices is being promoted out of beta to our stable release and is available for free from Nokia’s Ovi store.
Mobbler, versions 0.10.x and 1.10.x uses the official Last.fm radio API which only allows paying subscribers to stream the radio. Non-subscribers with free accounts are allowed a 30 track free trial from Last.fm and only paying subscribers can play the radio.
Free user accounts can’t play the radio. Subscribers will see a prestigious black icon at the top left when online. If you have an older S60 phone (i.e. pre-N8/Symbian^3) it may still stream radio until Last.fm disable it.
Speaking of the Last.fm, it is the UK-based internet radio and music community website, founded in 2002 and it is the now world's largest social music platform as they claims. Service is entirely poweredby its community of listeners.
It all starts with scrobbling. Everytime you listen to a track on your computer or iPod, a little piece of software called the Scrobbler automatically adds this track to your Last.fm profile.
In return you get personal top charts; music and concert recommendations; you connect with like-minded listeners; and you can listen to personalised radio stations powered by millions of passionate fans.
Using a music recommendation system known as "Audioscrobbler", Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of all the songs the user listens to, either on the streamed radio stations or on the user's computer or portable music device.

Instructions:
When mobbler is running on your phone it will queue the tracks you listen to using the builtin Music Player.
If you connect to last.fm, using the Connect to last.fm button in mobbler's options menu, mobbler will scrobble all the queued tracks in one go. Once connected, mobbler will scrobble tracks 'live' to last.fm as you listen.
If you disconnect from last.fm, using the Disconnect button in mobbler's options menu, mobbler will close it's connection to last.fm and go back to queuing the tracks you play without submitting them 'live' to last.fm.
If you exit mobbler, using the Exit command in mobbler's options menu, mobbler will close and any tracks you listen to will not be queued or scrobbled to last.fm.
