Sweet Memories Gets An Update
And Support For 3rd Party Pictures
Sweet Memories is Python base port of the classic memory known as Memorize, Concentration, Pelmanism, Shinkei suijaku or simply Pairs, in which all of the cards are laid face down on a surface and you need to win as many cards as you can by turning the cards face up in pairs of the same value.
The Sweet Memories contains 12 pairs of hidden pictures, all mixed up and your task is to find all the pairs and although it is easy to play, you have to have a good memory to become an expert.
Game is originally designed for touch screen devices but it also works on 3rd ed phones with a bit different layout and only 10 pairs of hidden pictures. There are three different pre-defined image collections, Default mix of 17 photos, Flowers from Rovaniemi with 20 photos and Traffic Signs from Finland that contains 41 photos and each game has random selection of pictures.
The game interface is quite simple so even if you are a beginner you can play it without any trouble. The first player turns two cards face up. If they are a pair, they are kept, and that player goes again. If not, the cards are returned to the same place face down, and the next player repeats the same actions.
The latest version of Sweet Memories (v1.0) adds possibility to create your own picture files and improve your memory by playing with your favourite pictures.
How to create your own picture sets:
There has to be at least 12 different pictures, each size 88x88 pixels. You need to combine all them into a single vertical picture and save it as yourname.jpg. You can use any raster graphic program like PhotoShop or some cheaper solutions like IrfanView and its handy ‘Create Panorama Image’ feature.
Now, create text file yourname.txt, which contains a short one line description. This will be used in picture selection dialog in phone, please try to keep it about max 20 characters long. Install both files in your phone under directory //data//jomsw//sweetmem. Launch Sweet Memories application, select Options menu and menu item "Choose Pictures" and that’s it ;)
Please note: if you have more than 12 pictures, each new game will use a random subset of all available pictures. Therefore unlike in other memory games (which I checked), Sweet Memories has an additional replayability feature: you can never be sure which of the pictures you will get. More fun!
An American neuroscientists say that "mental aerobics", such as plying classic memory games, is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Sweet Memories is challenging enough for adults as well as kids and will be a right choice to test your memory and exercise your brain, !
Sweet Memories another freeware title from Jouni Miettunen, developer of the Nixie Watch, Paparazzi and Jontris, popular freeware "Tetris" like game for 3rd Edition of S60 devices. Jouni Miettunen, is programmer and Python enthusiast and he became a Forum Nokia Champion, mainly thanks to his active participation in Python for S60 community.
Note: Game has to be installed on the same drive as PyS60 (C: for internal memory or E: for external memory) – otherwise the game won't start!
